DESCRIPTION:Leader:\nJoin Jade and Adam on a trip to the Peak\, to visit the Eastern Gritstone edges for a revision in Trad. Venues decided on the day and shared on the WhatsApp group\, to get the best of the weather but the plan is to get out on the Trad and get the mileage in… bouldering\, sport and trad on Limestone and hill-walking all accessible too. \n\nInfo:\nMeet up Friday 1st October at the YHA\, or on Saturday\, early at the crag… venue to be shared via the WhatsApp group on the Friday night. Climb Saturday and some may stay to climb Sunday morning before the drive home. This would be a good trip to attend if you are keen to develop your trad climbing on Gritstone. \n\nServices:\nBanks available in the cities on the way into the Park… Chesterfield\, Derby\, and Manchester…. Plenty of bakeries\, cafes and pubs\, gear shops and stores for all your purchase options in Hathersage… \n\nAccommodation:\nStaying at YHA Castleton Losehill Hall\, which currently has plenty of camping available. Details HERE. \n\nFood:\nProbably best to be self-sufficient but a there are plenty of pubs a short walk into Castleton. There are enough options in Hathersage for breakfast and lunch\, on the way to the Eastern Edges. \n\nTransport:\nHathersage accessible by car\, bus and train and a regular bus service from Hathersage to Castleton. SUMMARY:Dave’s South West Lakes “Adventurous Wainwrights” Trip
DESCRIPTION:Dave and Andrew will be resuming their quest for more adventurous ways of ascending the Wainwrights as Dave continues to tick off his second round. We will be staying in Eskdale and the plan includes scrambles up to Grade 3\, including Green Crag\, Harter Fell and Middle Fell\, Yewbarrow or Red Pike. Scafell may also be on the agenda. \nDetails\nWe are booked in at The Woolpack Inn and the YHA in Eskdale. We will arrive early on Tuesday 5th October for a full day of action. This gives us 3 full days and a short day on Friday before we return home. \nServices and Food\nThere’s a small grocery store in Holmrook\, a 10-minute drive from the Inn\, but we will rely largely on breakfast and lunch that we bring or buy at the accommodation\, and we will eat at the Inn. If you need any kit\, you’ll have to head to Kendal (about an hour’s drive). \nAccommodation\nDave is booked into The Woolpack and Andrew is at the YHA. There is still availability at both places. \nTransport\nCar required as we will be quite remote.
