DESCRIPTION:Synopsis: \nJoin Jim back in Somerset for Trad\, Bouldering\, Sport and Hill-Walking (at a push)…  Something for everyone. \nInfo: \nMeet up at Jim’s house on Friday 1st July 2022 and climb at local venues on Friday\, Saturday and Sunday… Venues include: Avon\, Cheddar\, Goblin Coombe\, Sand Point and so many quarries\, if you like that sort of thing. Bouldering venues from the new guidebook… plenty to go at… don’t worry about that! \nServices: \nPost office and local shop 2km up the road. Cash machine if the link is working. 3 pubs within 10 minute drive. We may end on a visit to one of the local pubs by Sunday lunch… \nAccommodation and Food: \nFree at Jim’s house. Book early and you may get a bed. Otherwise\, bring a sleeping bag and floor space available. If you need privacy\, then bring a tent as the garden is big. Dogs very welcome but they are not allowed to chase the sheep! Or the cows! Or my next door neighbour\, the farmer will have words with me. I will cook evening meals on the BBQ and there is always something for breakfast. Bring your own lunches and alcohol. Anyone travelling from Denmark\, please bring some Tuborg Classic… (and just to point out\, this is not available at the airport\, so you need to buy it and put it in your hold luggage… [I know!] Thanks\, it’s been two years now!). \nTransport and Travel: \nPlenty of parking at Jim’s. Bristol by bus or train and then local buses out to West Harptree available. Get in touch with Jim if you need pick up. If any Danes are keen (you should be) then get in touch with Jim and we’ll try to arrange pick up from an airport. Bristol airport is 20 minutes away and has direct flights from Copenhagen. SUMMARY:Dartmoor Trad & Bouldering
DESCRIPTION:Meet up Saturday morning at 09:00 at Houndtour. Spend the morning trad climbing and bouldering. \nServices:\nBovey Tracey has banks and shops and is a convenient stop off on the way over the Moors… Bovey is the self-appointed ‘Gateway of the Moors’ and will provide all the necessaries… \nAccommodation:\nSome of those in the South West may treat this as an extended day trip but for those that want to stay over… We are planning to bivvy overnight Saturday. The National Park normally publishes a map to wild camping and local restrictions\, including camping 100m from the road and not in sight of any buildings. \nFood:\nBetter bring your own and be self-sufficient but pub options are available. \nTransport:\nCars is the best plan. Public transport doesn’t really exist on the moors.
