We made the Vignettes Hut this time, but turned back on the Pigne D’Arolla about 1 hour from the top (at about 3500m), when the clag came in and we felt we had fallen in enough crevices, though two days on the glaciers helped remind us of our techniques.
One day visiting some of the local sport crags (with a couple of Brits we met up with), including a rather intimidating abseil off the Satarma Needle…
A need to claim a summit by the end of the week meant a look at the Pt. de Vouasson and with the arrival of a third Club member, 5 of us got to the top. The glacier, (and route) has changed significantly since I was last there 10 years ago, so it all felt new.
Hope you enjoy the pictures.
