The Buckley McCall Shaw Climbing and Mountaineering Club started out as a group of friends, based loosely around Nottingham, who have been active in arranging Summer and Winter climbing and mountaineering trips around Britain and Europe. We are regularly in touch and are very active in the Club activities. The formation of the Club is really just a means of formalising the arranging of trips, and to encourage a wider circle to join in. We don’t set ourselves up as experts, but we do have a lot of experience between us. We are not elitist, and are happy whether you are keen on hill walking, climbing, mountaineering, or any other mountain activity. We have no mandate to train members but we are happy to share our skills, or point out where you can access qualified training. Our ethos is to encourage members to put their efforts into the organising of unusual or novel trips, so that members are offered the opportunity to walk or climb routes or visit places they haven’t been before. The Club is affiliated to the British Mountaineering Council and has active members around Britain and Europe, and a couple of members further afield.
