O come all ye faithful!
December 22, 2019 @ 9:30 am - 7:00 pm
In time honoured tradition, we will embark on ye annual Christmas walk in the Peak District on Sunday 22nd December.
This year’s trail will be a feast of gritstone gloriousness fit for a King, or maybe even three.
We’ll be following a star, otherwise known as Dave, from our meet point at the Grouse Inn at Longshaw, S11 7TZ.
Please arrive promptly for a 9.30am start, time waits for no man and nor will we.
Our journey will take us alongside the line of gritstone edges, onto White Edge with its far reaching views. This is an easy promenade -perfect for those delicate post-Christmas shopping feet – along rocky moorland. If things go to plan, we’ll encounter Froggatt village, Stoke Hall the 17th century retreat of Sir William Cavendish and the biblical texts carved on rocks a little way below Curbar Gap on our way, before arriving back at our start point where we hope everyone will be welcome at the Inn (that’s the Grouse Inn, again) for a seasonal snifter.
Guests can join – it is Christmas – and as a gesture of respect, please bring gifts. Chocolate, mince pies, hip flasks etc are particularly well received.
No such pilgrimage would be complete without some seasonal fancy dress, so please come equipped to venerate the King in suitable attire.
Oh and finally, in order to protect the integrity of the BMSCMC walking conglomerate, rucksacks will be inspected prior to departure and any climbing jiggery pokery will be removed.
Glory be to the gritstone!
