Find your next adventure with BMSCMC …
BMSCMC is a thriving climbing and mountaineering club with members throughout the UK and Europe. The club is affiliated to the BMC with all the benefits and assurances such affiliations provide.
BMSCMC is very pleased to be supporting the BMC’s ‘#FindYourAdventure’ project aimed at increasing participation in outdoor activities.
“Every adventure starts with the first step, and the great news is that once you get going on your hiking, camping, bouldering and climbing, or even mountaineering journey, there’s a whole world and a lifetime’s worth of crags, mountains, ridges and trails to explore.” [BMC]
If you’re wondering how to get started, then BMSCMC could be the answer. At BMSCMC you’ll meet like-minded people to share their skills and experiences and help you to set and achieve your outdoor activity goals. You don’t have to commit to joining straight away, you can come along with us to your first trip to meet other members and see if BMSCMC is right for you. Click here to view the club’s upcoming trips.
We’re confident that you’ll #FindYourAdventure with BMSCMC an enjoyable and rewarding experience.
Do you want to join us?
We are keen to build our Club and invite prospective members to get in touch. You will find that the ‘Who we are’ statement above tells you what is important to us. You may wish to read Club member profiles to see who you may share a rope or a map with. You may want to read the Club Rules and Regulations to get a sense of the group and our way of working together. You may choose to look through our gallery or view our Albums on Flickr (see links on the right) to see what we do.
We are active, we strive to be inclusive and successful, and we work as a team. We travel to different places and we enjoy new times. We expect new members to be competent in their chosen activity, at least to a standard where they can ensure their own safety. Although we don’t have a mandate to train members, we do take the opportunity to develop our skills. We regularly share practice between ourselves, and help members when they are learning new skills. This is particularly so if members are developing their skills across disciplines, hill walking to climbing, or climbing to mountaineering or Alpinism. We feel that we invest in our team continually, and we can direct you to qualified instruction if requested.
Please take time to decide if we are right for you. In the mountains, we value friendship and trust. As a group, we value long term commitment, contribution and endeavour.
If you are interested in joining us… Well Done! Please contact one of the Executive Committee, probably the Club Secretary (jimamccall1@gmail.com), and we will probably ask you to join us on the next appropriate trip, or we may ask you to join some of us out on the crag or the hill. If we all find a fit, then we will get you on the team as fast as we can…
Thanks for looking us up. If you don’t get an initial response, we might be out on the hill, or at the crag. Please try again, with more of us. We will get back to you!
Thanks Again,
Jake Hinds (Club President)
